Tackle your credit card debt by paying 0% introductory interest until 2028

High-interest credit cards can make it ridiculously hard to get ahead.

But there’s a solution: transfer your balance to a credit card that offers a 0% intro APR until 2028 on balance transfers and no annual fee, which means more of your money actually goes toward paying down your balance.

It could be worth considering if you want to break that high-interest cycle.

CoreWeave Bonds Hit 15% And The Whole AI Trade Flinched

Tech Buzz Editorial Feature

The credit cycle came for the AI trade. CoreWeave bonds at 15% and credit default swaps at distress levels were the loudest signal in a week that wiped $1.6T off US chip stocks, and the stress started well before AI.

CoreWeave bonds are yielding close to 15% and its credit default swaps are pricing distress, and that one credit signal moved the AI trade harder this week than any earnings number did. A key index of US chip stocks lost $1.6T over six days. The selling spread to Nebius, down 11%, Oracle, down 9%, and a row of AI cloud and mining names down more than 10% each. Two hot inflation prints landed in two days, and the bond market bought Treasuries anyway. What is repricing here is not demand for chips. It is the price of credit, and the same repricing is showing up in markets that have nothing to do with GPUs.

The Supplier Says Buy, The Lender Says 15%

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, told a Bloomberg event in Stockholm that CoreWeave's strength is improving every day and that its cost of capital is actually decreasing. Nvidia holds 47.2M CoreWeave shares, roughly 10% of the company, after a $2B investment in January, and it is also CoreWeave's chip supplier. Analyst Tal Liani, who published a bullish note this week with a $140 price target, put the arrangement plainly: Nvidia is financing these deals to keep CoreWeave and others buying Nvidia rather than AMD, so the interest runs both ways and everyone with a stake in the data centre build will say comforting things about demand.

The bond market is the only party here with no upside beyond getting paid back, and it is asking 15%.

Private Funds Use Models, Public Markets Use Buyers

Private credit values its loans with models, comparables and recovery assumptions. Public bonds are valued by whoever is willing to buy them this afternoon. For about a year the two have told different stories, and this week the public side won the argument.

Spreads on triple-C rated junk bonds are nearing 1,300 basis points, past the highs of the March 2023 banking stress. Leveraged loan prices are near multi-year lows. Blackstone has capped redemptions. A Blue Owl vehicle received withdrawal requests covering roughly 39% of its shares in a single quarter. Sponsors including Ares, Barings, BC Partners, Churchill, BlackRock and Apollo have reportedly been weighing sales of publicly traded business development companies, many trading at steep discounts to stated net asset value. Managers who believed their own marks would hold the assets and wait.

In Australia, property developer Bathla Group collapsed owing about A$3.3B to more than 40 private credit funds, some lending at around 15%. Regulators then put a 21-day stop order on a credit fund run by Fidante and Ares. Australia's private credit market is estimated near A$200B, with as much as 60% tied to property.

The Order Books Never Got The Memo

Demand for advanced chips looks fine. ASML, the only maker of the machines that produce them, says it will not meet demand for at least two more years. TSMC just posted a sixth straight record quarter. Samsung and SK Hynix still fell more than 9% each on Thursday, dragging the Kospi down 8% and triggering a 20-minute trading halt. Order books full, share prices falling. AI valuations rest on profits years out, and every basis point of extra yield makes those profits worth less today.

The AI Build Is Eating The Phone Market

Global smartphone shipments fell to about 251M units in the third quarter, down 22% from 320M a year earlier, with the decline accelerating through the year from 3% to 7%. The cause traces back to the data centres. AI infrastructure is absorbing memory and components, costs for handset makers rose, and rather than lift prices across the range those makers cut their cheapest models and pushed premium. Buyers at the bottom kept their old phones or left the market.

Apple opened preorders Friday for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable, starting at $1,999, days after its market cap passed $5T for the second time. Foldables were expected to be roughly 20.6M of 1.25B units shipped in 2025, with lifetime foldable units passing 100M by the end of this year. Apple is selling into the top of a market whose base is shrinking, and the build that raised its component costs is what hollowed the bottom out.

The Bond Market Read The Inflation Print And Bought Anyway

Money leaving chips went into Treasuries, and the move outlasted the afternoon. The 10-year yield fell to around 5.09% after touching roughly 5.35% a day earlier. The 2-year dropped to about 4.72% and the curve flattened. Two hot prints gave sellers every excuse and the selling would not hold. Housing took the benefit: the average 30-year fixed mortgage fell 12 basis points to 7.33%, Opendoor gained 17%, Zillow 11%, Compass close to 10% and CoStar more than 6%. Housing is now effectively a position against the AI trade.

What Actually Decides This

Look at what is inside the inflation. Gasoline accounted for more than half of September's monthly headline increase, and much of the core surprise came from shelter, a measure that lags real housing costs by a year or more. TIPS breakevens are not pricing a breakout. A supply shock can lift measured prices while leaving households poorer and borrowers weaker, which is the mechanism those phone numbers just demonstrated. The order books are real. The financing stack underneath them is what is being tested, and at 15% CoreWeave is paying the market's answer.

“So at the end of the day, there is an inherent interest both ways. And I’m sure that you’re going to hear from everyone on the planet that has a vested interest in the build-out of data centers about the validity and the sustainability of the demand, including Jensen. It’s just a question of time.”
